Big Island
Big Island! Another beautiful island that God has create!
My trip didn't started so good. I was stuck in the airplane for 3 hours beacuse the power went out on the hole island (Oahu)! I arrived 4 hours late to Kona, Big Island where Carmen, David (Carmen's boyfriend), Janik (Carmen's brother) and Melanie picked me up with the car.
We rent a car for the hole time becuse the island is big but it don't have buses. I never slept on the beach, instead we stayed in an apartment at a hotel. It was a beautiful view from the balcony over the ocean and I could se the sunset and the ocen from my bed;) The apartmant was perfect for a honeymoon.
The five of us stayed togetheter and did alot of things. It was vaccation but we went up early in the morning to go haiking or snorkling.
Big island has only souvenir stories. Big Island is not a place for shopping. But the island is really beautiful and peaceful, not big roads and many peolpe, complete different from Oahu.
Saturday morning, the day after I arrived we went to the waterfalls, haiking. (Kona is west side and Hilo east and it is always raining in Hilo) We went haiking on the north of the island, 2 1/2 hour to drive. Saw alot of waterfalls, mountains with snow on the top and flowers.
We have been eating on resturants everyday day. We had a small pool at the hotel but it took 2 minutes walk to the closes beach.
In the mornings we saw dolphines from our apartment and alot of yellow fishes!
On Sunday we went to a local church and they welcome me with a neckless and I had to introduce myself. I felt really welcome and all the people was so friendly. Later we went to the beach, just hanging out, went to starbucks, aet dinner and in the night we saw The Notebook together:)
Monday morning and we went on a boat trip, wheelwatching for 3 hours. We where 11 peolple (tourists) and a crew. First we sailed to a spot so we could snorkling. Was an amazing spot to snorkling on! Have never seen so clear water and alot of fishes in different colours and sizes. The reefs where cool too. After the snorkling we got food on the boat and we saw wheels. They were huge! After that we saw dolphines. They where jumping in the front of the boat. It was to bad that I didn't had a waterproof camera! I could have been taking so nice picture when I was snorkling .
Tuesday and it was time for the vulcanos! It took 3 hours by car so we went early in the morning. It was raining when we arrived and we saw a bad move about to protect the Big Island. We thought it sholud be about the vulcanos, to bad! In which way we decided to haiking around the vulcano, Kilauea. The haking trip took almost 3 hours, it was not that bad actually really funny even if it was raining most of the time. After the hiking we went by car down to the ocean to see the lava landscape.
Wednesday, New Year!
This day we rent two surfingboards beacuse today was the first day with waves! The current was really strong and it was hard to surf and the waves was almost to big. The lifeguard had to rescue Carmen ones beacuse the current took here away . Carmen is the best surfer of all five.
So instead of surfing I went away to have my quiet time. It didn't took long time before a guy, Lauren came to me and asked if I was reading the bible and after that the talkning was on. He, a homeless guy who was high and an alcoholic, but we had a great time together discussing life. You really have to watch out so you don't say wrong things, sometimes you have to agree beacuse you don't wanna have a fight. Alot of peolpe like my friend Lauren make their own religion about God and saying that their are christians. The only thing you can do is to listening to their stories, they can keep talking for ours beacuse they never get the love from people. No one takes their time to just listen on them. This part of the day was the best! Just be humble and show them love and talk to them. His friends came too and they sang songs for me and we were sitting together for hours. I got hungry but Jesus hah to be hungry to when he was teaching but if yout stomach hurts it's nothing when you have a moment like this. It's more importent to get people saved then to have a full stomach.
In the night we went to a resturant and then we went down town and was hanging around. We meet Nicole, Ane and Patty, girls from STN. We decided to celebrate in our apartment so we went back to the hotel and celebrate the new year.
Thursday
Snorkling time! Went to the turtle beach for snorkling. It was waves so the water was not so clear, a bit bad. Saw some turtles on the beach and the landscape around the beach was beautiful. A small place with almost no tourists. Was alot of baies around and rocks + palms. A really pretty place.
In the night Janik was going back to Switzerland, to school. Said goodbye and then we weant shopping on Wal-Mart, took a walk in town and had a coffee.
Friday
Only four of us today. Today was a big day beacuse we left early to snorkling with the dolphines. It is a bay, a spot in the ocean their alot of dolphines is swiming. Was the best on the hole trip! Awesome! They jumped over my head and you swam side by side with them:D So Cool! They jumped in the water and swam together in groups, so beautiful to see in the background of the sun.
After the dolphines I packed and we took a smoothie, took a walk in town, went to Borders and I found awesome christian books, went eating at the Brazilian place, my favorite and then we had a coffe at Starbucks and Nicole came to Satrbucks to. Had an amazing night! Miss you guys!
They dropped me of at the airport and I catch the airplane back to Oahu. I am so blerssed taht I could went on vacation! Thanks God!
I will meet all my friends from Switzerland again and go skiing.
Now you know what I have been doing the last week. =)
